Mobile repair vs Dealers?

I decided to start a new thread, just so it gets read faster. for those reading my issues with my slide trim and my OCD going in full effect, i have decided to let my dealer fix the bottom trim this way i know its done and done right.. I also have a local mobile rv repair guy that will come over my house and give a free estimate. I am assuming that they will be cheaper then bringing the camper to a dealer.
Are the mobile guys in business usually just as good as dealers techs? when I called his office his wife advised me that he used to work for this dealer where my camper is going and decided to go in business for himself.. unfortuntly, its hard to research his work...no websites at all... anyways, am i better off with mobile repair?
  • Mobile guy coming tomorrow. Says should take 30 minutes to fix at most. Now I just hope he uses the correct sealant/butyl tape. Haha
  • I really like my dealer, he sold me a great trailer at a good price... however I have any work done by a mobile repair guy.. He has a nice shop and although he will come to me, I have always taken the trailer to his shop for work..

These independent RV repairman is generally going to do as good if not better work and normally it's faster as well..
  • Also with a mobile guy, you can stand right there and watch him work. You can ask questions, learn and immediately inspect what kind of job he is doing...

Often with a dealer, customers are not allowed inside the shop so you really have no control over what and how it is being done.
  • In my experience the mobile guys are much better than the dealers. It is their reputation on the line and they are much faster on the repairs.
  • It seems like the mobile guys are generally better from what I've read here over the years.
Of course you just never know.
