My thought on that 7500 lb GTWR trailer is that the real tongue weight when ready to camp will be 750-1000 lbs. If you are at the upper payload limits of a F150, you should consider the F250 since physical dimensions are about the same. You will get a heavier frame, brakes and power train in roughly the same size package. I think if you price out the gasoline version of the F250, it will come in close to the F150. I know you are trying to avoid the 3/4t trucks, but remember that the kids will only continue growing and your camping will only get heavier as you do more...
