UVW (Unloaded Vehicle Weight)
Means just what it says. Without added options, accessories, fluids or cargo. UVW is not that complicated and is a useful figure for those of us that understand what it means. ;)
Some manufacturers include propane and batteries in their UVW, others don't. That's where a little research comes in. But if the weight of propane and batteries is that critical, a person might better opt for a different trailer or tow vehicle. :@
There is a difference between the "Brochure Dry Weight" and the yellow sticker "UVW" on a trailer, at least this is how I look at it (right or wrong!).
"Brochure Dry Weight" (fantasy land! Lol) as you stated often times do NOT include options (possibly the "Mandatory options"), accessories, and of coures, cargo.
"UVW" as stated on the yellow sticker is as THAT trailer was built as it rolled off the assembly line, but as I understand includes the full propane tanks. At least our yellow sticker (from what I recall) states w/ full propane, as well as Mike UP's trailer from the pic he posted in another thread including propane. But not the battery from what I have found, and of course, no cargo or dealer added accessories.
But I do understand what the benefit of knowing the uvw of your trailer and the loaded, ready to camp weight is (within reason anyway). If one doesn't know either the uvw or loaded weight of their trailer, then when shopping for a new trailer they can not compare the uvw of the new one to their current trailer. Even if the "brochure dry weight" doesn't inlcude some or any options, it will at least get them "in the ball park" weight wise of shopping for a new trailer. Then they can verify just how much an optioned trailaer they are interested in weighs per the yellow uvw sticker on that model trailer at the dealer.
BUT.... as you posted if the battery and propane are going to be the straw that broke the tv, then way to close for a safe, stable tow!!!!
