It makes sense. I live in a rural part of the country with plenty of hard working farmers and ranchers. If they can afford an expensive vehicle, it likely won't be a Range Rover or Porsche Cayman. They want an upscale pickup for luxury with utility.
As far as pushing up the price of trucks, it's supply and demand. You can still get a $27,000 F150, but few of us settle for the two door work truck base model.
