Great info!
I have a backcountry background, ultra-light backpacking/mountaineering, built Jeep for what a lot think is "hardcore" 4x4, off road motorcycling, etc. I have a pretty good handle on what a full-size truck can do (which isn't really hardcore). So, I will push the limits of a full-size truck (I already do), off road in the PNW and in the winter. In the PNW I've had a lot of low hanging trees scratch the sides out of my Jeep, then the roof and sides of my truck. I've scratched and caught branches on anything that hangs outside (mirrors, racks, lights, etc.). It's not the end-all though, because it doesn't happen everyday.
I appreciate the 0.5% comment (it's very true). There are a lot of people that build to that and never really get there. I get there more often than most. I will agree, off road with a full-size isn't necessarily fun for everyone, but the journey is part of the gift.
Anyway, keep it coming. My current idea is an 8' camper on my short box truck.
