I'm SOOO glad to know there's others with smoke allergies! And I never smoked cigarettes - so it's not necessarily caused by that. In a couple of weeks, I'll be camping with my kids/grandkids (we have multiple campsites reserved), and they seem to need a campfire burning 24/7. I'll actually check the wind directions for the weekend we're camping, and pick the site farthest upwind....
As others have said, campfires are often part of "camping fun", so I've never said anything, (although if a smoky fire was filling my camper with smoke, I probably would). After all, I DO like a campfire-grilled hot dog or s'more; but I'm usually the one sitting back 20' from the campfire....upwind.
