My wife dislikes smoke in general and cigarette smoke in particular. For years that guy hanging out in the cold at night near the back door was me with my cigarette/cigar. Finally one day I just stopped and that solved our domestic issue.
OTOH we have also discussed "public" areas that are supported by everyone's taxes and meant for the use of all. Though she dislikes, and is bothered, by smoke she doesn't want others to stop their campfires. Indeed, we like to see people enjoying themselves and will cautiously sit around keeping a wary eye on the fire. But, ultimately if it's too difficult we head out to boondock.
That's the beauty of truck campers.
But the real danger of the campfire, for me, is when we were all siting around and someone introduced me to Apple Pie" flavored moonshine. All the guys at the Mid Atlantic TC rally think I sure laugh a lot.
My advice is to avoid "Apple Pie" moonshine around the campfire.
