Actually the height at which its mounted probably determines the likelihood of rupture from a rear ended collision the most.
3' or less off the ground and it is more subject to direct impact by passenger cars and pickups. Higher up and the vehicle hitting the camper will basically go "under" the bottle.
Bottom line is, this is a valid thread, polluted by a few paranoid types.
