I am checking enclosed trailers as well and I figured out you can drive mid-sized car into 8'x 16' V-nose.
I drove wide body trailers and the additional 6 inches do make it harder.
I also think about future trip to Mexico, where even 8 foot wide gives you about 2 inches clearance between leaving your mirror on opposite vehicle, or rolling down the ditch.
Than there is regional pricing. West Coast is very expensive, but you can find custom build trailer in eastern states for 1/2 price.
I am planning to order 10,000lb axles. Just in case I want to rent a Bobcat...
