Moving up.

We currently own a 2013 Rockwood mini lite 2109s and have been very happy with it and how it tows, no complaints. It has travelled a good distance, two major trips every year and lots of little ones in between. The fridge went on us and we are looking at new tire and brakes etc so we are going to upgrade instead. Our #1 choice is the new 2507 mini lite, at about 5200 lbs dry with ccc 1600 for a total 6800max, about 1500 lbs heavier than our current trailer and 3 feet longer. We drive a Sierra 1500 4x4 with a towing capacity of 9200 lbs. Anyone who has a similar set up, are you happy with this combination? Will we notice much difference? We are in Ontario and big trips are the east and south east. No plan for rockies for this trailer. Several years before we retire and have time for that.
Thanks!
  • 5.7 with a 3:42 ratio. Tow package with integrated brake controller and tow/haul.
  • Try this... Take 900 lbs tongue weight and subtract it from the total payload rating on the sticker inside the driver door of the truck. Now subtract the rough weight of passengers and anything going in the bed. How much is left? Almost always trucks run out of payload before pulling capacity.
  • More hard numbers. My 5004 lbs, dry weight TT crosses the CAT scales at 6200 lbs. when loaded for the road. Of the TTs 6200 lbs, 750 appears on the tongue.

My F-150's max cargo is 1411 lbs. So with the 750 lbs. of tongue weight, two adults, a large dog and camp gear, we reached our max cargo limit.

My towing weight rating is 9500 lbs. My combines TT and TV rating is 15,000 lbs. Neither of these numbers are a problem. However I have run out of cargo capacity. Fortunately, cargo capacity is vehicle specific some have more some have less. The max cargo limit is usually posted on the door jamb.

    Good luck
