Hey...knock off the "undersize" SUV garbage. I'll school you guys all day long about how to tow with a mid-size SUV and remain within all capacities. This is very doable with this trailer....
I am not commenting on your rig, however I would wager that the empty tongue weight (of this proposed trailer) exceeds the hitch rating of the SUV before a single thing is added to the trailer.
It was 520lbs fully loaded without water. However, with the WDH this weight was not actually fully applied to the tow vehicle. Verified via scale.
I was under RAWR, GVR and GCWR and that's what really matters.
Like I said, I am not commenting on your rig.
And I ask WHY NOT?
WHY NOT drill me with questions if you believe it was unsafe or "illegal"?
WHY NOT ask me what made me do this?
WHY NOT ask how well or not my set up towed?
WHY NOT ask...
Not everyone can or desires to buy a truck for towing a handful of times per year. There are in fact ways to tow at max, safely, with mid-size SUV's and NOT feel underpowered nor unsafe.
To even the most experienced travelers...or most the internet Google search savvy....ASK. May you'll learn something when you get your head out of the big truck sand box.
It doesn't matter what the subject is. Batteries, solar, Generators etc. There are a FEW people that view doing what is normally considered unwise as a challenge. They will go to many extremes to make it happen. And they usually can do it... But it needs to be done perfectly to work.
Most people will not follow precisely what needs to be done for a variety of reasons.
I too was one that started out with an inadequete TV... After a variety of bandaids were applied, I stepped up to a properly sized TV. Life is much simpler now.
I wish you well in your small TV travels... But I do not believe it is the solution for most people.
Of course, YMMV.
