The fifth wheel dies have the advantage of being closer to the cab which helps but a full profile fifth wheel is a few feet taller then a taller. Air flow around the hitch and basement areas also add to the aero drag. I really can't find any real world testing that could verify which would be correct, maybe such a test would be difficult to execute. You would have to find a TT and 5th with the same frontal design .
