I think you wanted to say upgrade not downgrade.
No, I meant downgrade; nothing beats a diesel for longevity and power. However, diesel is not always the answer, and a gasser is a better fit. There's nothing I can't do with my truck, and it averages over 20 mpg; however, sometimes too much is too much, and I'm not sure I'll be needing a 7,200# 4x4 brick that requires me to spend 25 - 30% more on fuel and at least double in mainenance costs. If you meant upgrade for the truck then yes, absolutely. I could live with the expense of the engine if not attached to a Dodge; uncomfortable seats, 1976 fit and finish, tempermental trans, questionable steering. The new Rams seem to be much better, though, and I like the 6.4 2500 Mega with the new air suspension option.
My 2000 F250 sounded like a school bus with a 4" TB; people in the next county could hear it idiling. Not sure about the longevity of the 6.7, and hate that all new diesels are EPA strangled; I belive the days of million mile longevity are over.
I love the ride and handling of the new Chevy; seats are light years ahead of my Dodge. Saw a High Country yesterday; very nice interior, though the same leather, in a different color, as the LTZ.
