You are comparing good gasoline engines to really bad diesel engines. Compare your good gasoline engines ( 5.4l, V10's and what not) to the Ford 7.3 or Duramax LBZ.
This forum cracks me up. Always say gas engines are better then site a Ford diesel as proof.
Let's compare to a Duramax
Ha! Nice try. Now look at triton V10's blowing spark plugs. Beside s I listed Duramax LBZ, not first gen LB7.
So now you're gonna "bust out" the very limited and ancient history spark plug blowout as a trump card? Again, why continue to make comparisons between non-current engine models?
So now you're gonna bust out the very limited an ancient history head gasket blown on the dmax as a trump card? Dude threw up a link to an LB7 with a blown gasket. Last I checked, that was a first generation duramax that was introduced in 2001-2004. Wasn't this when the Triton engines were blowing spark plugs? Apples to apples;)
Dude, I didn't bust out anything. You might want to check your facts before posting. Last time I looked, you're the one who started making outdated comparisons by bringing up the whole modern 5.4, 6.8 (OP is looking at current) vs LBZ. I have no dog in this fight; just trying to keep it honest. But if you want to discuss dinosaurs, we can do that. Firstly, just how "common" was the blowout? Highly publicized due the internet, but just how frequent was it? Personally, I know of no one who encountered it. Heck, I'm still running a '01 era V10 on the original plugs without any issues whatsoever. I can't speak to the D-max head gasket issue as this is the first I've heard of it, and frankly as I have no intention of ever owning one for it is NO LONGER BEING MADE, I don't care. So don't even try to say I was making any comparisons. Come join us in the present, my friend.
You call them dinosaurs, I call them Icons.;)
