As stated Newton and Monroe counties do not require emissions on their registers cars and trucks. The closest county to these that require it would be Rockdale county (Conyers).
The new tag tax is only for new purchase and newly registered cars and trucks and drivable motor home. The TAVT tax is for motorized vehicles does not include pull behind trailers or campers.
New residents are required to register and title motor vehicles and pay 50% of the TAVT within 30 days and the remaining 50% within 12 months. The TAVT is calculated on the value times 7%. That rate might change as it is adjusted each year.
Each county has their own tax millage rate.
Rockdale has the highest millage rate in the state fun for me living here. Last year for our 2008 Rockwood travel trailer that the county has a taxable value of $5,360 our bill was $259.77. Our millage rate was 46.0400. You pay your tax on your birthday that is why you will hear it referred as your birthday tax. Happy birthday to you.
Your property tax will be calculated and it is due around October or November I believe.
