Moving to the dark side! LOL

I actually got rid of the camper about 10 years ago, went through a divorce, kids are out of school, selling everything off and just bought a fifth wheel to full time in, in Florida to start with. Planning on some travels, but making bigger plans.

Putting together and building an RV park, storage facility in Florida and then moving to an even darker side, a large boat to start traveling in. LOL.

Everyone take care and happy new year to you all!
  • There are several interesting YouTube channels about full time cruiser. Most are into sailing (obviously cheaper) and some are "fixer upper" boats.

This guy bought a 1980 Chris Craft Catalina 310 with 2 dead engines, so I assume it was cheap. His first post about the boat is back in 2015. He has been living aboard for a couple years and is currently parking it at a dock off of the Tampa Bay backwater at a lot his is renting.
  • i KNOW WHERE THERES A SAIL BOAT ,ABOUT SEVENTY FT LONG SITTIN IN A WAREHOUSE ,IN TEMPE az.
  • Sounds like exciting plan. I assume you retired?
I had good luck to boats in California, that I was pulling into dry storage, but Florida boat owners usually call them
"the hole in water where you put your money in"
    Good luck.
  • A boat always makes a hole in the water into which you put all your money, regardless of the body of water.
  • As long as you can tinker on things that are broken and don't mind the ups and downs of boat ownership, you will be just fine.

    Keep us posted. Good luck.

  • I'm building a storage facility and Rv park. This will pay for my retirement. The X took all of the monies I had. so I'm starting over at sixty. I have a friend who owns about five mobile home parks. He nets about a 100.000 per month and travels all over the world building schools with the extra cash. He doesn't even own a car.

I only want about 20,000 per month and am looking at 50 ft catamarans to live and travel on. I don't want a home port, but if I have to it will probably be in the Bahamas.
  • Let the flaming commence because what I am going to post is going to really get it going, so I may as well beat them to the punch.

    I am JEALOUS....... LOL.

I really want to know how when your X takes you for everything, you start over at 60 in another state with nothing by your own admittance, and do so by developing an RV park and storage facility that generates $20K per month in steady income. Is that $20K gross or net?

My thoughts, exactly. I come across a little 'abrasive', sometimes, so decided to wait for someone with more finesse to step up.

Thanks. It will interesting what you hear back, if you do.

  • Storage becomes excelent business in USA in last years.
When I sold house in San Francisco area, the cheapest 10x20' storage was $600 a month and would be 50% higher in prime areas.
Even with those pricing they had waiting lists.
But still either OP is a dreamer or is not telling us everything.
Credits those days are not easy to get and starting with 0 cash is not making good prediction.
Especially when you want to live on luxury yacht in Bahamas.
