- NC_HaulerExplorer...Hey Rick, I'm one of those fools who upgrades about every two years,(yeah, 'cept THIS time)....don't know why....I haven't gotten rid of a truck in years and years that had anything wrong with it...no complaints on any of them...nothing wrong that I was aware of when traded in or sold....Soooo, this time was the last, really, no, I'm serious.... being "almost 63", I now have another agenda/plan for when I work my last day, (Hopefully" and can retire...:)
There have been occasions through the years that the DW has "questioned", "Why do we need a new truck"...(no real answer for her by the way), and it usually cost me something for her, thus the 2012 Jeep in sig...Guess after being married almost 43 yrs(Aug), it's all good:B
You've got a great truck, I've a lot of great trucks...could have kept the 07.5 Chevy Dually, the 10' Ram and for sure the 12 Ram...I don't get out much, and when I do, I might buy a truck:B - Big_RayExplorerThe funny thing is this is the 1st time in 23 years that my wife has not bitc* about me getting a new truck so I'm not so sure what to think about that. So if anything happens to me SHE did it. LOL
- 45RicochetExplorerFunny I was running it across the DW yesterday. She ask " what is wrong with our truck?" Frankly I didn't have a answer for her other than I want one :B Don't think that went over to well as she rolled the eyes at me. I'll do some diggin under it this week and hope to find something wrong with it, but I'm sure she'll tell me to just fix it :(
My old girl is looking better by the day mileage wise though. You guys will wait at the top of the grade for me, right? - invstr55Explorer2012 cc dually with about 8000 miles , getting 13 to 14 empty and 8 to 9 towing. Guess I can just remind myself that it will tow most anything anywhere and forget about fuel..
Happy camping
Dan & Janice - Robin1953Explorer2011 CC LWB dually 4X4 3.73:1 gears and getting 14-16 MPG overall empty. Haven't towed but for about 15 miles so don't know what towing will get. Dealer (cough) said I would get about the same towing as empty. I told him that was probably a stretch...:-)

The truck does not have 5er/GN package. They let me have the truck to test drive over the weekend so we will see. I got to say it drives really nice for a one ton.Big Ray wrote:
Jim the truck I'm looking at has the 68RFE
Nothing wrong with the 68RFE, I think they're good tranny's...your truck should be lighter than mine, so I would "think" that you would get better mpg...
Keep us posted on your mpg, especially when you start towing. Does your truck have the 5er/GN prep package? If it doesn't, you'll actually be ahead of the game..if it does, there are a couple of way's to make it work...
Enjoy the new truck...:)
It is hard to believe that a 1 ton crew cab long bed with the beefed up frame and suspension can ride as comfortably and smooth as it does. The wife loves it:B
Without the prep package all you have to do, if you want is just have a 5er hitch installed as normal...
I'm picking up the Reese drop in ball Wednesday and will probably order the Andersen hitch first of next week. Believe it'll be the cheapest route, no telling how much the adapter from Chrysler will cost, then I got to "hope" my Reese 20K signature hitch would fit ok..too many variables to wonder about...Going to hook up and tow first chance I get.. - Big_RayExplorer

Otherwise, I'm typically right around 12mpg.
