Thank you fla-gypsy for the specs, very handy. I should have noted it is a 4x4. I just worry that once I weight the truck I wont have much room after I add my 1300-1500# tongue weight. I am mostly concerned the GVWR will be near max.
It looks like I will be good to go on GCWR.
Call the owner and ask the GVWR. I think you will be surprised. In 2005, Ford upped the GVWR for F-250's from about 8,800 to nearly 10,000 pounds, while the curb weight stayed near the same, around 7,000 pounds. So you can carry nearly 3000 pounds in a 2005 and later F-250. The F-350 can carry about 4,000 pounds (Liaret option packages will take away about 200 pounds of cargo capacity).
The neat thing is 4X4 trucks have a higher GVWR than the crewcab 2WD, so you should have a 10,000 GVWR - even though 4X4 adds about 400 pounds to the curb weight, so it might be about 7,400 pounds. Yet the gas engine is lighter, so it might be less.
Anyway plenty of cargo rating for a travel trailer. A fifth wheel might be iffy, you would have to check the curb weight with the family on board, then see what you can add to the rear axle without going over.
So if a fifth wheel is in your plans, consider a F-350, but for now you are fine with the V10. Also the radiator will be a lot larger, and probably has a oil cooler that GMC seems to think is not needed, so your Ford will run cooler than the GM.
Fred.
You are correct on GVWR, it ranges from 9400 for the 4x2 Crew Cab up to 10k in different configurations.
Curb weight varies with options from 6500 and up in the gas model 2009 crew cabs
Radiator capacity was 28.7 quarts and it has external coolers.
