The V10 would be great, but have you looked at a Chevy/GMC with 8.1/Allison? Would be a gas guzzler but I owned one and it was a towing animal...just food for thought...I had it in a Chevy 2500....The V10 again, would suit your needs, just figure if you're going to go that route, if you could find a good 8.1/Allison, it comes with 4:10...just another option to think about:)
Except, the last year for the 8.1L is 2006, unless you can find a rare 2007 "Classic" model, which is really a 2006. The Ford is a 2009, three years newer.
Plus you can *FIND* the Ford V10's. They're a lot more common than the 8.1L's. I stumbled across mine by pure luck. It was the first and only 8.1L I came across for sale.
Heck I didn't know it was an 8.1L until I went to look at it.
Heck I didn't know there was such a thing as an 8.1L until I came across this truck four years ago!
They're rare as hen's teeth.
Knew they stopped making them around 06'...I had one in a Chevy with the Allison and for a gasser, it was one towing animal...never met a filling station it didn't like. Don't know much about the V10 engine, but figure it would love gas also...The 8.1 was a 454 originally with some work done on it by GM:)....Guess they canned it due to mpg? Don't know, but the 6.0 couldn't touch it at the time.....
Hold on to your's, as you said, they are as rare as hens teeth:)
