Something to think about here.

The 8.1 only came in the 4 speed. The 6.8 you are looking at has a 5 speed auto regarded as one of the best transmissions ever.

BTW... I found an 85k mile 8.1 Suburban in the Chattanooga Tn craigslist today for under 10k. No it's not mine.
