You beat me to it, I knew hooke to the Allison it was a 5sp, then 6 spd auto tranny......I also knew the 8.1 had abysmal mpg....probably why GM canned it. But with K&N, Grantelli MAF sensor and Flowmaster dual exhaust on it...SON.....it sounded awesome....and ran like a scalded dog.:)
Thanks for the clarification for me guys, I have studied the 8.1 Suburban pretty extensively but not the other platforms. It's neat to know the 5 speed Allison was put behind the 8.1 in the pickup platforms.
