Ihave owned both a 6.0 gm gas truck and a v1 0 ford. No comparison. The gm had a 4.10 rear and the ford has a 3.73. The ford was a power house compared to the gm. Mpg was actually about the exact same....both pathetic.
So the 8.1 would toast both of them and have even worse mpg:)
Oh no it wouldn't. The 6.8L made the same HP and TQ within single digits at about the same RPM's. The V-10 was every bit the match of the 8.1 in a smaller package and quieter too.
Ford 6.8L specs;
SAE Net Horsepower 362 @ 4750 RPM
SAE Net Torque 457 @ 3250 RPM
Didn't know that, thanks buddy:)..though I did like the sound of the 496 CID Vortec:)...Would it have been close, or would the V10 have toasted the 8.1? Really, more curious than anything, cause I really don't know anything about the V10, cept it was a very good engine.
Not much difference between the two. The V-10 does not roar like the BB 8.1, it is technically a smallblock engine. When you put it under a heavy load it will make a nice sound but not very loud
