That certainly would solve my extra weight problem on the roof of OFF-ROAD POPUP. Mine is electric motor and you sure can tell it is is a strain when cranking up the top now with my air conditioner installed on the roof.
This would be a piece of cake for me...
I have a good spot on the front side of my roof where my fantastic fan is mounted in the center leaving alot of space on each side to mount the 100WATT flex panel 42-inches by 21-inches. Two of these panels would give me around 11.4 usable DC AMPS.
I double if I would drill a hole down thru my roof however hehe... I am planning on routing to the roof edge using wiremode product then penetrate the side wall of the roof to get inside the POPUP using PVC electrical box with weather tight lid from LOWES.
Will be curious if you get to see the rated 5.7 usable amps from the panels in high sun... I suspect the long shadow of the air conditioner may be a problem for me in the late afternoon.
I could two more of these 42x21 inch panles on the other end of my trailer between the air conditioner and the rear of the popup roof.
I like the idea of having a 20AMP of usable DC CURRENT from the solar panels to really put a good charge on my battery bank after I use my generator for one hour to get the batteries past the high 50AMPS current draw when first start charging with 14.4VDC boost charge. These panels would take over after the high current starts tapering back below 20AMPS to give my a good 90% charge before the high sun goes away each day.
This would be my game plan at at any rate hehe...
Interesting install - thanks
