You asked them to sell you something they had never sold before and which was against their recommendation. The dealer is right, and your expectation is completely unreasonable.

Well, that's certainly one take on it :)
I believe in the long run I will have to replace the Blue Ox with something else at my expense, and definitely at a different dealer.
In trying to understand the problem with your Sway Pro I read through your original post again and have to ask why, considering you knew at the time of installation, that there was an issue with one of the rotating brackets why did you leave the dealership under those circumstances? Even if it meant waiting another day for a replacement to be delivered by the distributor to the dealer that would have been preferable to leaving with a piece of equipment you knew (because you witnessed it twice with your "own eyes") wasn't operating properly. Although I don't use a Sway Pro myself I am familiar with the system because I too was looking for an alternative to the Equal-i-zer I used with our previous KZ Spree and having have hooked up the chains myself don't recall having any of the issues you're describing, so I'd have to ask if you've read through the installation instructions yourself to fully understand how the system should be installed and how it's intended to work? Finally, since you have a friend who owns a Sway Pro who is reportedly satisfied with his I'd echo the suggestion you compare yours to his to figure out just why you're having so much difficulty. Bottom line, common sense says if the Blue Ox Sway Pro was such a faulty design as you describe there wouldn't be thousands of satisfied owners out there using them every day ... there has to be more to this story.
