My camping trips and my dad

Every time I would visit my dad he would always ask, "where you going to next or where you been"? I then explain the latest trip or whatever. Sadly my father passed away on Sunday at 90 years of age. I can proudly say he was great daddy for my 62 years and I will miss him terribly. Last year on one of my trips we went through Flat Top, West Virginia, where he was born. In his words, to find the place where He was born, was all you had to do is go up the road between those building and I was born in a little house on the hill. Rest up Pop because I know you were tired. You will always know about my next camping trip.

  • Very touching. Many of us up in years have faced this eventuality. Pax in aeternum, dad. (Eternal Peace). In manus tuas, Domine, commendo spiritum meum.

  • Absolutely sorry to hear of his passing...I lost my father in '08 after he had a bout with bone cancer. He lived in Stonewall Colorado, and he loved it there. He helped maintain a couple of the campgrounds up there for a while, and he always enjoyed trying to find ways to keep the people who stayed there happy and entertained. He said that it was better to never hear a compliment than it was to hear one complaint. He said it was compliment enough for people to come back each year and ask for the same spot they had the year before.

My thought and prayers go out to you...
