I helped a friend change the water pump on his 7.3L PSD years ago. I'm surprised we're not still under the hood.
Try it on an Econoline. Make sure it's a passenger van with rear HVAC. Also, make sure it has a (cheap Chinese) aftermarket radiator that doesn't quite fit the factory mounts, and that had the fan shroud "adjusted" to fit.
Try changing one on a Volkswagen Passat 4 motion V6. Try a Volkswagen New Beetle with a 1.8T. Ford 6.0 head are a piece of cake..........well maybe not that bad. LOL!
