My New Used Skamper 24ft Trailer Documentation?

Hi I am new to this forum and Camping with a 24 ft trailer. I decided to buy a used trailer first to see if we enjoy camping this way. The trailer that I bought is a 2001 24 ft Skamper. The floor plan is what sold it to us. What we are missing is any documentation on the Travel Trailer. There is some work needed but overall it is ok. I would like to know what I should be doing the roof so that it does not leak. Along with any other weekly work that is need to keep it running ok. If anyone knows where a manual is that would be great.

  • Get your refrigerator model and serial number and search on to see if it was recalled. If it hasn't had the update, get it done or do it yourself. It involves a sheet metal baffle.

As far as everyday stuff you have come to a great site with an endless amount of information or people who have been doing this for 50 years and can answer any question.
  • Thanks everyone for your tips. I will go by appliances and find the manual. what I was looking for is every day maintenance and running of the Skampy Travel Trailer.
  • You can find everything that you need on the web. Furnace, frig, converter, a/c manuals can be downloaded. Things like fender skirts etc that are made just for your TT can be found with aftermarket companies like Sierra products. Sometimes you have to dig but everything can be found. You will not only find more than the old manuals that came with the rig could tell you, you will find others sharing their experiences about better replacement items.

    Dicor

    Just an example of Dometic

    Holding tank example

    Example for a 1973 rig

Just get the model and serial numbers off any appliance and search.

I love the smaller trailers - can go anywhere and not too expensive to keep-up.
  • Roof, a thorough cleaning and inspection followed by sealing all the seams using an approved material, like Dicor self leveling caulk or eternabond tape. At 14 years old the roof is possibly near the end of its life. Dicor among others make a roll on product that, if the material is still solid could be applied to extend the roofs life.
Manuals? Go write down make, model, and S/N for each appliance. Then do an internet search for manufacturerand download the manuals. Anything else that may have come with the trailer new will be pretty useless to you.
