Need a Spare Tire and Rim for Ram 3500 DRW CTD

Long story, but my daughter bought a used 2011 Ram 3500 CTD with dual rear wheels. Nice truck but it came with no rim and spare tire. I also believe the hanger/crank down mechanism is missing too.

The truck came with some nice Alcoa aluminum wheels.

So I guess my question is this; I was thinking of just picking up a used steel wheel from a junk yard but not sure what size I'm looking for. Are all steel dually rims basically the same? In other words, does the wheel have to be specifically for a Ram? What size would I be looking for?

Thanks for the info, as I recall, the steel dually rims are reversible and can be run on the front or back, is that correct?

The other option would be to get another Alcoa rim.

I also considered the lug nut issue mentioned above so that needs to be considered if we go with a steel rim. Just trying to find something cheap to use as a spare.
  • You are probably find the Aluminum wheels are going to use different lug bolts. They probably wont work with the steel wheels. The steel wheel may not flange up to the Aluminum wheel.
Your easiest out is probably try to match what on the truck.
  • Discount Tire can sometimes get used OEM wheels. I bought a replacement polished factory alloy for my '04 SRW Ram for $70.
  • In a quick check of the used parts yard I have experience with shows that for a Ram(Dodge)3500 DRW pickup you are looking at a 17x6 wheel - this shows as 1994 and up. Double check to be sure about the 17" as that could have changed. If she has factory aluminum wheels check pricing on them as well. Just be aware that they will have a front and rear version. On my Ford the only difference in F/R was the face that was polished better, not sure about RAM but it is likely the same situation.

Check around - pricing does vary and shipping a steel wheel will be costly as well.
