I'd suggest that you get some type of battery monitoring that is accurate and easily visible. This could be as simple as a voltage meter.
This is REALLY important as an inaccurate indication can lead you to think you are doing OK when you really are leaving the batteries LOW and greatly reducing their life span.
Now that you have a good set of batteries, maybe we should have a short discussion about what your "normal" routine is for using them and keeping them charged.
