I have toured the Jayco plant MANY TIMES ...(hauled Trailers out of Goshen,Middlebury)..
Having said this-------Jayco is a Fine Trailer ....Family owned, recently Bought out Starcraft... and now is in a " Partnership" with Open Range..out of Shipshiwanna ...I toured the Jayco, Open Range, and K.Z. plants about 3-4 weeks ago.
Jayco is a fine product....However.....Through the years I have noticed changes in JACO and also other trailers-- the changes I noticed in Jayco -....
The roof structure Keeps losing what I will call "thickness or rigidity "---
At one point they used nice thick plywood on the very top of the roof --through the years I have seen it Shrink down and now they use, looks to be about 1 quarter inch lauan board--- just saying these are the things I've noticed.
The tour used to be The upholstery shop where they would show you how they quilted the bed spreads and stuff which I know they don't use Bed Spreads anymore, and how they made their furniture-- well now they don't even make their own furniture they buy it from a different company. Just stuff I have noticed over the years.
The factory tour.....Used to take you onto the floor you would start at a bare frame and you would walk along at the back off the production line and see each individual stage ---well 2-3 weeks ago and I went there they take you up on an observation platform and she talks about all the stuff that they do and then you go to the end of the line and see one almost done and that's it??????
Meanwhile...I went to the KZ tour just down the road 2 hours later and they take you through the full thing from the bare frame all the way up to the finished product And I went to the Open Range Tours wed....They take you from the very beginning to the finish product so how come all the sudden JAYCO is not showing you the details ????
And don't say Oh,it's probably a safety thing -no-- the other plants take you through everything when there's people working
these are just things I've observed:h
