Need help 2000 lance 1140 solar

I have the above listed truck camper with the factory installed 50watt solar panel. I have been looking for the charge regulator which is supposed to be on the right hand side under the sink. If anyone has this camper and can post some photos so I know what I am looking at I would appreciate it. I have googled till my fingers hurt with no results. Thanks in advance.
  • Your panel has a built in regulator according to the 2000 literature.

It states that there should be an led light located under the sink, not a regulator. If you can find the leads from the solar panel at the battery you could test them to see what the panel is producing.

    Check out page 29.

  • Thanks for the info. I will have to get on the roof and look for it. I don't have a red light under the sink.

It may be mounted under the solar panel and hard to see. Like this.

I would try removing the battery and testing the battery cables with a multimeter on a sunny day with the panel covered and uncovered to see if there is any charging going on.

After so many years this factory option may have run it's useful course.
  • Having the charge controller at the solar module is certainly not an optimal design and you might want to consider moving it close to the battery if you have to replace it.
  • As it turns out there was no charge controller to be found. I traced the wires back to the battery box and put a charge controller in. Now I just wait to see how well it works.
