First of all, yes KZ RV is still in business (see my signature for an active owners forum). It's a family owned business that started in the 70's and is still owned by the same man. They have never financed their business so they have always been in the black.
Secondly I have never heard of any issue with something hanging too low on an RV so I'd say you are getting taken for a ride.
Lastly if the u-bolt is hanging too low then take a cheap hack saw and cut it off shorter. Should take about 60 seconds and cost nothing. A cut off saw would make it even quicker.
