If everything is as you said, then the only thing that could cause the fiberglass to crack like that is fatigue. If that's true, then it's only a matter of time (think months not years) before the other 3 sides crack also. In my opinion, I wouldn't take it if they were giving it away. Only thing worth anything is the canvas if you find someone else that needs that exact canvas.
