Need more help with tow vehicle/truck trade/purchase!?

Ok guys, I wanted to start a new thread because the other one was bogged down. My husband and I have an 08 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab, 4WD, with the 3.92 gears. It has the hemi also. I mean it is a nice truck, but we really want a crew cab, and would like something that we might feel is a little more durable. WE have had friends with the hemi that their truck has had a lot of issues and transmission issues. These are the trucks we have considered trading for and I want to know thoughts and if these would pull good? Our TT will be 25 feet, 5800lbs loaded.

-2012 F150 crew, 5.0
-2011 F150 crew, 3.5 Ecoboost (both of these have 3.55 gears)
-2013 Silverado 1500 LT Crew (3.42 gears, 5.3L)
-2009 GMC Sierra Denali AWD (3.42 gears, 6.2L)
-2009 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi crew (the only reason I would consider this is I have heard this gen hemi is better, but this has 3.55 gears)

WE have considered these diesels also but I just wonder if thats overkill?
-2007 F250 6.0 Crew, long bed
-2008 F250 6.4 Crew, short bed
  • By 2500 are you talking only Dodge or Chevy/GMC also? We have mainly had Chevys and have always been solid trucks for us. I think the older 5.9 Cummins are out because I cannot seem to find one that someone is not asking a fortune for it and wont work with my bank. We have to stick with an 07/08 or UP for my bank to finance for me.

Also the TV with us, gear, etc I would say would carry 750-800lbs?
  • The two Ford diesels your considering are so problem prone I would never suggest one to anyone.
Of the rest, I would pass also. Get a 2500 series and go happy. Stronger frame, better tires and wheels, stronger overall trucks. Of the earlier version 2500 trucks in diesel, I would suggest a 5.9L Cummins if you can find one. Prices are usually sky high for a reason.
