Need new mattress!!!

The MasterCraft coil spring mattress in my 2012 Jayco Jay Flight is by far the worst mattress I've ever slept on. Way worse than any of the foam beds in my Pop Ups or my Jayco's bunks.

I thought about going to a mattress that we use at home, but at 80" in length, it's just to long. The original's 75" length barely lets you squeeze your legs past to get to the door opening.

Thought about a Full size home mattress, 54" X 75" but it leaves large gaps that could pinch our hands in the night or even get a splinter from the plywood platform underneath.

I want to stay around $200 but no more than $250. Not sure I want another coil spring mattress for the camper as foam rv mattress have proven to be better, if not some what uncomfortable.

MY cheap MasterCraft mattress has no cushion cover on top so you feel every hard coil and they are even popping all over the place.

It's very bouncy. If you roll over, the mattress bounces you left to right, until you settle in the middle. I can't sleep at night on this mattress so I put "2" thick blankets on it, with each being doubled. While I can't feel the coils anymore, it's ultra stiff nature and bounciness are still there. No mattress topper is going to fix this mattress.

I've found a few mattress on Amazon for under $250 and they seem decent, high density foam.

What's everyone's experiences and opinions on the less expensive, more comfortable short queen mattresses????

I'm camping now by myself and think I may be sleeping on the kids bunks for their more comfortable foam mattresses.

Previously the mattress was bad from the purchase. But over the last few years, with very limited sleeping from only a few short trips a year, the mattress seems to have become unbearable. Perhaps my back, shoulders, and hips getting older or the springs just getting harder and more bouncy.

HELP, :) :) :)

  • I put a topper on our mattress, it helps,IIRC it was under $100.
  • I need a queen size for my RV. I get so confused when looking on line. I see memory foam, memory foam gel infused, and coil spring. I would love to see a few people all state the same brand and item number. That would give me some confidence in what to look at.

I found one for under $250 that has raving reviews on Amazon. DreamFoam Bedding Ultimate Dreams has 700+ reviews and it's 4.5 stars. They have a variety of sizes but the short queen is $244 and free shipping with prime. Good luck!

Yep, that's one I'm looking at.

Man is it going to be a bear to get the old one out. I wanted to flip it and there's just not enough room. It has to be taken out the door by 2 people, flipped, and brought back in.

or see if there is a foam place around where you live.

I have found mattresses on Amazon as I said, I'm looking for some experience on a good, comfortable mattress from people who own them.

What mattress brand do you have and is it comfortable?

  • Looking to buy my 1st camper and one of the big selling points of the one we want was the mattress, a good one is a must have! The guy said he paid 1,000 for it and when I tried it out he almost had to drag me out of the camper, more comfortable than my mattress at home! All that said I've been looking around to see how much a good mattress would cost me if I went with a different camper and I found one for under $250 that has raving reviews on Amazon. DreamFoam Bedding Ultimate Dreams has 700+ reviews and it's 4.5 stars. They have a variety of sizes but the short queen is $244 and free shipping with prime. Good luck!
