Need New Shocks

My '08 Dodge is due for some shocks. I see Rancho has their 4 for 3 deal going on (RS9000XL). I like the adjustable shocks for more options. However, I have read that Bilsteins might be better for my truck. Any recommendations either way? If Bilsteins, what model in particular?

  • I have RS9000XLs on both trucks.

2009 3500HD DRW does camper hauling duties. I have the rear set on 9 with the camper on, 4 with camper off.
  • . . .Do not forget to look at KONI FSD shocks. . .sweet but expensive . .
  • I got the bilsteins, they are way to soft for my 4000 pound camper on my dually. I should have known when they list the same shock for a 1\2 ton truck and a one ton.
  • I've got rancho 7000's. Pretty happy. Not sure if I'd rather have the 9000 adjustables or not.

I'd probably try out the 9's for the next set, but I can't say I'm unhappy with the 7's. Price was right for the 7's.
  • I love how my Ranchos ride with the camper on but not so much with the camper off.
  • I put Rancho RS9000XLs on my dually. They are adjusted to 9 with the camper (which never leaves the truck) and they did in fact make a big difference. Can't speak to the Bilsteins though..

  • If so, make sure and keep your receipt. Lifetime warranty with it, no warranty without it. We had them on two srw trucks before we got our drw. They made a huge difference over the oem shocks when hauling our 4,000 lb camper.
  • I am likely going with Ranchos, especially since they have their sale going on.
  • You can get by with non-adjustable shocks on a drw carrying a medium sized camper. On an srw truck carrying a hardside tc, you need adjustable dampening shocks. You need all the dampening you can get and you can get more with adjustable dampening shocks than non-adjustable; whatever the brand.
