You mention that she lost a lot of fuel driving to the garage. Please tell her (if you already haven't) that if there is a fuel leak to leave the car parked and call a tow truck. Or if she smells gas while she's driving to pull over as soon as it is safely possible. Fuel leaks in the engine compartment are dangerous.
