I have used that kit many times with no issues. the key is to follow the instructions the the letter! it needs hot water, not a warm torch (not that you did this, just an FYI for anyone doing this repair). it then needs to be slipped on slow and straight! any side to side movement and it will stretch the line to the point it won`t seal well.
