the depreciation curve I use for buying from new to salvage that seems to work fairly well on almost all types of RV’s… MSRP minus 20% absolute minimum discount up front… (28% discount from new, first year depreciation 10%
a new left over is a 2 year old trailer…
condition is always a factor for a +/- factor…

Then end of year – approximate depreciation…
1 - 18%
2 - 10%
3 - 7%
4 - 6%
5 - 6%
6 - 5%
7 - 5%
8 - 4%
9 - 4%
10 - 3%
11 - 3%
12 - 2%
13 - 2%
Salvage Value, based on condition…
Nothing official, just my own scale I have used…

Have you looked into the importaion or a TT to Canada. There are a lot of hoops that you have to jump through. Not impossible to do, but be prepared to have it inspected by a business that is certiifed to do inspections. Then be prepared to bring anything that does not meet Canadian code in to standards.

When you go looking for a TT don't let your emotions get the better of you. Don't let the features you like over shadow the things that you don't. Do more than one walk through preferrably without the salesman, make a list of any defects that you find and get it written on the contract that they will be repaired satisfactorily before you pay for the unit and take delivery.

If the unit meets your requirements and is a condition that you are happy with, decide how far you are willing to let then dig in to your pockets. Start below the max you are willing to pay, and once you get to your max stand firm. If you are showing you are serious, but willing to walk if the deal doesn't go the way you want.

My wife and I were down to a choice of three used trailers at two different dealers, which gave us a feel for the pricing. We selected the best floor plan for us.

The deal included all taxes, fees, dealer prep and the walk though etc; or as I put it “I was going to write a check and I only had one check, so any additional fees etc. would be paid by the dealer”. The final figure was close to the NARDA amount. The dealer did include a WD hitch to sweeten the deal.

Was this the best deal ever? Probably not. Was it the worst deal ever? Probably not. The dealer made money so he was happy, I got the trailer I wanted for the price I wanted, so I was happy.
