I have always introduced us to new neighbors be it us setting up or new folks coming in setting up next to us.
Doesn't take much to 'read' the other folks and decide whether or not continued conversations/interactions will be worth while.
VERY rare occasions that is wasn't worth while.
Still in touch with several couples that we meet during our FT travels.
