I recently ordered a 3500 SRW Mega and will be buying a fifth here soon (likely a Keystone Sprinter 324). Since my mega has the 6'4" box, it seems like some folks say I need a slider, while others say they have one and never use it. Does anyone have any real world results with a newer Ram and a newer mid profile fifth (with the indents on the front cap)?My Mega was ordered with the factory 5th wheel prep...if I can get by without a slider, I was thinking the new B&W Companion for Ram...if I need a slider, I would want an auto slider (I would think??)...seems like Super Glide is the one to get from what I read here and other places?Am I correct in assuming I would need to get the Reese "picture frame" adapter, and then use the Superglide on that? If I go the latter route, that would likely give me more clearance options from the bed rails to the fifth, right?? I have heard the newer 3500 trucks sit up higher and some guys have minimal clearance.....Thanks for any info you can give this fifth wheel newbie!__________________

If you have the factory installed pucks then you might want to take a look at the Anderson Ultimate fifth wheel hitch. I have no experience with this setup, other then what I have read on this forum. Do a search to see related posts.

Besides the Anderson hitch mentioned above there are now hitch builders that are making drop in hitches to fit the bed holes. You might check with Curt and Reese to start the process. The picture frame most likely will not be needed if you purchase a new hitch as it's function was more to be an adapter to fit an older hitch into the new Ram beds.

Without a slider it is nearly impossible to complete some tight manuevers such as backing into a tight spot without damaging the trailer or truck if you're not very careful. I've seen videos of smashed back windows and dented cabs when the driver wasn't careful and turned just a little too sharp.I have a long bed and use the B&W Companion. I have been very happy with it.

right, B&W and Curt make hitches to drop in the pucks...if I dont need a slider, I will go the B&W route as everyone that has one seems to love it...but if I need a slider, I would prefer an autoslider....I imagine I would then have to use the picture frame because I dont think anyone makes an autoslider to drop in the factory pucks yet? I have emailed B&W and Superglide to ask them but have not heard back...but I dont see anything on their website

yes...you can use either Pullrite adapter or the mopar or reese adapter and the ISR superglide will mount on there.

I also received an email back from Demco and they said theirs would work on the adapter also

I have had an older traditional SG slider with my F250 CC/SB and am working on purchasing a '14 Mega 3500 DRW. Last year, I contacted PullRite about a heavier than 18k hitch that would be compatible with the Ram 5er/GN Prep. They responded 'No' , not we are working on something. Then I find out last month that they have a picture frame adapter of their own ------and it breaks down into 4 sub-assy's. AND they now have a 24k ISR Slider! When properly adjusted and maintained, a SG is fantastic!
I liked the 'traditional' 24k that mounted directly to the pins that went through the bed, I wonder if you could order their puck locks (an individual part of the weldments) by them selves to build your own mounting adapters?

I would classify the sliding hitch as a "nice to have" rather than a "need to have" for the Megacab. Depends on the front profile of your RV more than the bed length in the real world. Mine's good for about 89* of turn, but I did try 90* once :W

OK, just heard back from Pullrite and they now offer an adapter for the Ram 5th wheel prep package. It is part number 4439. They say I can then use the ISR slider hitch with this adapter. Now, I guess I just need to figure out if I need the slider or not? Something tells me better to be safe than sorry?

Just heard back from B&W and they have no plans on making a slider for the Ram factory 5th wheel package. Said I could use the turnover ball and then use the their slider hitch...that kind of defeats the purpose of having the factory prep package I would think?
