IMHO...boils down to what I call "The Fashion Statement Crowd" that is driving
the sales, therefore the base features & options of TV's...be they pickups, SUVs,
CUVs and to some degree...vans
This portal filters down to those who TOW something
Step back and while reading lots of threads..."Fashion Statement"...is a very,
very common theme
Then...'some' of them decide to TOW and the questions that leads to my opinion
that they just bought, or have owned the BIGGEST vehicle that they have EVER owned
and are hell bent on making it work as a TV for the 'Fashion Statement' humongo
trailer...no matter Fiver or Tonged
Example is my Real-estate Broker/Property manager of my rentals...he loved riding
in my GMT400 K3500 Suburban. Loved the neck snapping acceleration when an other
SUV challenged me while we were checking out a potential purchase
So much so, that he went out and bought a '06 GMT800 K1500 Suburban...then he noticed
that mine was taller than his while parked next to each other in his parking lot
So the next day he went out and ordered a lift kit and I didn't know about this
till the next month's normal visit where I parked next to his.
Bragging that now his is bigger...he could not understand that his was still
a 7,400 GVWR vs my 8,600 GVWR...that mine was still 'bigger' in capacity
Next were his 20's...now that his wheel wells were not filled like mine were.
He is one of the folks I've talked to about scratching the side of his TV from
the headlamps to the tail lights..."why would I do that?"...then ask him why he
ordered the 4x4 option...he just checked every option box because he can afford
to.
But...I'm happy that he is happy with his 'SUV'...even though he is one of the
'Fashion Statement Crowd'. No beef with him, but with the OEM's marketing department
which now limits what I want in a TV because the $$$$ of vast majority of buyers
don't care...nor even understand the TV aspect that we here on this forum (now
generally speaking...many of the Fashion Statement Crowd are now members too)
is all about
No longer 'all about', as many threads now dwell on bling, MPG, 20's,
etc...and less on the true TV capacities of TOWING...
PS...I landed here because on my other forums...many were referencing
advice here...asking me what does that mean, or is that true...
