Love the quote from the CEO... "fuel economy is the number 1 customer need in a 1500 truck."
Pretty interesting statement IMHO.
I would say he is a bit out of touch with reality.. :S.
Obviously fuel economy is important on any vehicle, but its sure not the number "one" customer need when they buy a new truck.
Probably about 4th behind--
1--How much can it tow
2--How much can it carry
3--Can it beat a (fill in your own choice here):W
If those are your top questions you shouldn't be looking at a 1/2 ton, get a HD truck for that.
I applaud Ram for not chasing after the "my 1/2 ton is bigger" title. It's a friggin 1/2 ton! Use it like one or buy a 3/4+ truck.
IMHO Ford has gone too far with their 1/2 ton. The few folks I know personally that have the newer Fords and loaded them to capacity have found the OEM tires inadequate, so they put LRE's on them... At that point they have all said they should have bought a 3/4 ton. The ones that have towed heavy, even the ecoboost, say the should have gone 3/4 diesel...
The ecoboost is a good motor, but it should be more concerned about mileage wars than towing wars.
