New 2015 Ram 1500 ECODIESEL HFE

All of my vehicles have been or are TV's except for the sedans

Even my 2,400 lb 2 seater. Ditto my current 2000 Mini Van. Both have towed
stuff from the local rental (concrete mixer, lawn spiker, lawn thinner, stump
grinder...that was tough with the mini van...etc) because just didn't want to
take the Silverado C10 or Suburban

The mini van has towed a PUP that is around 3.5K lbs and wont' do
that again.

My point in that...is that they generally do NOT need a pickup, but since it is
a LAGS (latest and greatest syndrome) fashion statement to own a pickup truck
or SUV with 20's and all of the other bells and whistles

Bottom line: The OEMs make the most money on 'half ton' pickups & SUV's, so that
is where they direct their engineering departments to design to

Why GM killed the +8K GVWR Suburban...their marketing surveys says
the VAST MAJORITY vof buyers only want half tons...that MPG is at the
top or top 3 of their 'have to have' lists...as is 'car' attributes...which
is bleeding over into the +8K GVWR stuff
