I think you guys are off the mark.
Most 1500 series trucks are not used for heavy hauling or towing. Most of them are used to haul people and the odd thing in the bed. Research says only 5% of them ever go off road.
Remember, this is an RV forum, and most of you think of things from this perspective, but most people do not buy a 1500 series truck for towing or hauling.
That's what 2500 and 3500 series trucks are for.
I respectfully disagree... there's a whole section on Travel Trailers, and this Eco diesel probably fits the bill for most any TT up to about 5000 pounds or 26 ot 27 feet long.
How do I know? Because I bought a 240 HP 3.0 L 406 lb ft TDI diesel VW Touareg SUV to tow my 21 foot 4000 lb Travel Trailer.
5th wheel capable, the Eco diesel, no, but this is RV net /Woodalls, and they do have a section for TT's and Tent campers too, which will fit nicely behind the Eco diesel.
There are many ways to skin a cat, it just depends how big or small a cat you have to determine the size of the tool to do the job.
Granted, the Eco Diesel is a niche market truck, but the niche needs filling.
Good point, some do use them for towing, but maybe just not the majority.
