Correct... but you're forgetting that the people in this forum with 1/2 tons that tow are a very small percentage of 1/2 ton owners.
It's the 95% rule... and generally you don't want to be operating in the 5%, and 1/2 ton owners that load up to max GAWR, GVWR, GCWR are in that 5%, even on flat ground.
How do you reach this assumption?
You can say the same thing about 3/4 ton and 1 ton truck also... most of them are used for fleet or work trucks to job sites, not towing TT's or 5th wheels.
