Oh noes, a fully boxed frame! Where will all the semi c - channel guys argue now? Just kidding. I knew this would come down the pipe. Good on Ford. They 1 upped the market me thinks.
Also, slick move to use the same cab section as the 150. Still gives it a unique face with the bed and front clip, but realize more economy of scale for the aluminum sections. This will help minimize true price increases due to the aluminum switch.
New frame as I predicted many times, higher to top of bed as I predicted, I have predicted SAE J2807 compliant, I am sure it will follow.
One thing that surprises me it "LOOKS" like the puck system has the same footprint as before. Maybe with the higher rated frame B&W will increase their Ford Puck hitch ratings?
So far it looks like a huge improvement in looks to the 18 year old design.
Awesome, raise the bar everyone benefits!
This is why I don't understand why anyone would order a 2016 when this will be available not too far into the future.
Exterior is OK.It looks like a GM product.
I am always leery of the first production years.
Let someone else be the guinea pigs. I always prefer the last production years which is when all the improvements have been made and all the bugs worked out.
I'll let someone else figure out if Ford has a real winner or a work in progress
You are correct but most don't think that way!
Cummins, I am confused. You state above you don't understand why anyone would buy a 2016. Then you say Lantley is correct and most don't think that way when he said he prefers the last model year made, this would be a 2016, because bugs worked out and he is leery of first year. Then again, maybe I am not the one confused.:?
I understand! Didn't you see mu disclaimer? ;)
My big deal with Ford is they have laid back and kept using the same platform for 18 years and when they let people know they are coming out with a MODERN all new truck I personally would wait.
My first and current 98 RAM is a 12Valve the last of the mechanical engines so it had every upgrade available at that time so it was proven.
I can see both thoughts but in Fords case I personally would go with the new one. The engine has been around a few years with several changes and trans will be the same so the rest of the truck should be a big improvement.
Ford hasn't been number 1 in this segment because they were laid back but the changes are because to increase the volume of the aluminum alloy to drive prices down, up coming CAFE standards and because the competition has finally caught up.
With the way our Super Dutys have held up compared to the dodges we've owned I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Super Duty in a New York minute.
