Nice one buzzcut1... great easy fix...doors are the worst heat waste ever..
PointTaken...I assume you have single pane windows in that AF of yours? Your going to have to do something real quick if your going to get this right in those kind of temps.. Are you familiar with storm windows? they are in your future, I can see it coming. The worst is that moisture will accumulate in the troughs and you will start to get ice dams at the bottoms if you do not vent correctly. My AF had a dual pain window package and it still was hard to get it right. I can say I have been at the very extreme.. -50 was the lowest I had ever been inside this rig and it was brutal.
Well I have been there. Where to start? We could write a book on this but my best advice since you are new here is to go to the Truck camper forum and look at the top of the page. There is a thing called a STICKY. Your going to want to read through the "Truck Camper University" and read anything that would apply to your situation...great advice here but you said you have read a lot already. Keep checking back and we will keep chiming in...good luck out there. There are so many mods to this keeping warm thing and a ton of opinions... Buddy heaters to generators to electric blankets to just keeping your tanks from freezing. LOL.. and yes keep your bath door open with that vent closed unless well you really have to turn on the fan. Fiberglass is extremely cold....let me ask this...are there any compartments around that bath? If so look inside, is it insulated around that structure? you tell us.. be careful of any outdoor showers or compartments that are vented to the outside...like your fridge, your LP tanks and battery box.(take a real close look here). I will bet you ten bucks your LP tank box and battery box is not insulated on the inside of the structure and it is just a 1/8th inch of cold plastic cube inside the wall structure. It is a giant ice cube inside your rig!! If you can see it from the inside touch it, it will be ice cold. Like your single pain windows, your going to have to go dual pain and either make some storms yourself or buy them if the window maker offers them. I personally would make them like my door mod. Cheep easy fix. Your LP tanks will freeze over too if you don't put some blankets around them..same with your regulator keep it as warm as you can....insulate it. Do you want to wake up at 3 am to your tanks freezing over and the heater stopped? MMM...buddy heater? MMM? well you get it...This is just a start.
