I have a very small gap in the seal of my escape hatch above my bed--about 2". It's enough to provide fresh air and exhaust moisture. I do not recommend catalytic heaters. They put too much water I the air and the inside of your camper will fall apart in a few years.
The best thing to do is turn on your heater and put a thermal imager on the outside of the camper to locate cold spots. Than address those.
