Along with the 3 big batteries for the big TC with the 1500 watt inverter and a second 400 watt for the electric blanket/mattress pad is a quite quiet built in 3400 watt propane generator with 2 -30# propane tanks but who wants to hear a generator running and vibrating the TC all night long? The 400 watt for the electric blanket/mattress pad is because of the slave 10% to 15% battery draw when the inverter is on but sitting idle. Using 10% slave is 150 watts on the 1500 watt inverter and only 40 watts on the 400 watt inverter. Call it simply using the proper tool to do the task at hand! Besides, the cost of the 400 watt is just a fraction of the cost of having to replace the 1500 watt when it prematurely fails from longtime usage. There's that win win factor again!
Some TC manufacturers seal and insulate so much better than others. Al 3 of our ordered new Lance TC have included the optional Arctic Pak package with insulated propane compartment and battery box etc and then I added the foil bubble wrap also so it's very well insulated for sure. It's needed for way below zero F comfort. Some TC manufacturers don't even offer and cold weather use options and their owners know just what it means as they are very seldom seen in use in the cold winter north.
We also found the removable carpet option to be worth its weight in gold for below zero winter camping. Keeps the floor so much warmer and any snow melt water drained downward and evaporates thru wicking unlike on linoleum where is remains a puddle just waiting to be stepped on and the same for any other spilled liquids. Once a year taking the carpet out and shampooing well keeps our carpet clean and looking new as we use additional throw rugs near the door and in front of the sink and range. They clean of most of the shoe/boot dirt and a re easy to clean or replace when too soiled/spotted. Solves the dirt issues and provides extra warmth too. Cold hard floors are not a part of our lives and won't be either! At home or in our RV's or our boats either! Long pampered very happy old farts we are!
